THE TEXTILE FARMERS UNEASINESS AND THE COUNT  FOR THE “MADE IN ITALY”

After Biella, Como and Varese mobilization, where have we got to?

The chairman of fashion entrepreneurs, Michele Tronconi, asked the Prime Minister:

“You must dig your heals in Brussels and bring home the regulations for the made in”. Berlusconi intervention at Milano Unica: “The issue of the traceability of a product and the total war on counterfeiting are pillars. I’m personally committed to see that a solution is found to a problem that has been for too long delayed”.

A drop of 30%, 50% and even 70% created the crisis of a model that for decades has made the fortune of fashion: to be the complete chain of production from the yarn producers, to the weavers, then the garment makers and finally the distributors. This is the third consecutive season that closes with a negative sign.

The goal is to introduce in Italy a law that imposes the right to know all the story of a product and gives the “Made in Italy” label only to those items that have been produced in Italy.

Tronconi says: The textile industry needs the clothing one as the big names need the textile suppliers who allow them to be proactive and quick”.

But will our textile industry end up like our peasant culture?
