THE GLOBE STORY/3
When Globe was founded at the end of the 1930s, the agency represented only European photographers (Globe’s roots were in a small “mom and pop” agency in Germany which crossed the Atlantic in the early days of the war in Europe) and the primary markets in the Unites States were Sunday retrogravure section of newpapers.
THE NEW YORK TIMES published such a picture magazine every Wednesday titled MID WEEK PICTORIAL.
Although short-lived, it was the forerunner of the great picture magazines such as LIFE and LOOK.
