LI XIOFENG

King porcelain clothing, decorated with fragments of ancient Chinese dishware, of broken bowls and cups…

Nothing strange if it is simply about a sculpted dress, about a marvellous object to be admired in the reliquary of a museum.

Art has made us used to everything, and many artists have utilised pieces of plates and ceramics in their creationsBut the particularity of Li Ziaofeng, Chinese artist born in 1965 and resident of Hong Kong, is that of being able to make clothes of an impossible material, which can be worn, which among others has already done the whimsical singer Lady Gaga – master of disguises.

It’s strange to say, but this dangerous armour of hard and apparently sharp shards seems soft and rounded, in harmony with the body’s lines and easily follows the complicated shapes of the retro dresses or lingerie bustiers.

Certainly, despite the freedom of movement, it must be difficult for a model to sit down on a layer of porcelain, but by now the damage has been done and the dishware has already been smashed to smithereens!
