GOLD METAL DEPICTION OF A KNIGHT PROBABLY INTENDED TO EMBELLISH THE BELT OF A LOMBARDY FIGURE – DATABLE AFTER DOPO 675 – NATIONAL MUSEUM, BERN

The Lombard art of metal work is attested to by these ornamental gold Stabio foil figures found in a tomb discovered : on the left is an elegant floral motif; on the right a vivacious portrayal of an animal.

According to Baserga that ornament was applied to the belt, and the other to the shield.
