In the absence of a jury and the official awards ceremony – introduced later – a referendum inducted by the organizing committee, chaired by Attilio Fontana of the ICE (Istituto del Commercio Estero – Foreign Trade Institute), carried out between the public rushing to the review declared Best Director, Soviet Nikolaj Ekk  for the film Road to Life, while René Clair’s  À nous la libertè was voted the most entertaining, Helen Hayes was awarded as Best Actress, and Fredric March, Best Actor, the “most moving ” film was the American Edgar Selwyn’s The Sin of Madelon Claudet.
