SHIRLEY TEMPLE

When SHIRLEY TEMPLE, perhaps the most beloved of a Hollywood child stars, retired she became the wife of Charles Black and raised three children in the hills of Burlingame in northern California.

At the time of this photo, she had come out of retirement to host SHIRLEY TEMPLE’S FAIRY TALES on NBC.

Later she exchanged show business for politics, holding several posts during the Reagan and Bush administrations, including ambassadorships to Ghana and Czechoslovakia and Secretary of Protocol.
