ROBERT DOISNEAU (Gentilly, April 14th 1912 – Montrouge, April 1st 1994) was a French photographer.
As a young man he studied lithography at the école Estienne near Chantilly. He was hired at the age of twenty-two, after working as an assistant to the sculptor André Vigneau, at the Renault workshops of Billancourt as an industrial photographer. In the 1940s he committed himself to the Resistance, from 1945 he began working with Pierre Betz, the editor of Le Point newspaper and in 1946 he became an independent photographer for the Rapho agency, founded by Charles Rado and at the time run by Raymond Grosset; Doisneau was a photographer for Rapho for about fifty years.
