The Navajo tribe learned weaving from the Pueblo tribe no more than 300 years ago.

The use wool instead of cotton and entrust the task to the women.

The Navajos attributed great value to weaving, the dyes are of vegetable origin.

The first Navajo blankets were with zigzagged stripes with small amounts of read used with discretion, for a touch of color.

The weaving is very tight and renders the blankets particularly warm and almost waterproof.
