MIMMO JODICE

He is one of Italy’s greatest photographers.

In fact, his photographs tell the whole story before you have even finished viewing them.

Admittedly, they may be likened to the phrase Italo Calvino dedicated to books: “A classic is a book which, before it is finished, has already said all it has to say.”

His photographs express such a pure equilibrium between reality and imagination as to recreate the world.

Smiling and mild-tempered, a man with the appearance of a philosopher and a decidedly Neapolitan accent, he embodies an overall elegance of sorts, both of thought as well as of style, which is decidedly contemporary.

And, at the same time, decidedly ancient.
