The prêt a porter parades startED on 24th February and the figures were in line with the last editions: 184 collections for 87 catwalks and the same number of presentations.
“In September the Fashion week will last 7 days with a format constituted by 5 hard days and 2 dedicated to young people. …. “Anne Wintour is simply the director of an important magazine, daring to leave a mark and effecting the reality also outside the editorial environment under its competence.” Says Mario Boselli, chairman of the national Chamber of Italian fashion.
The sector that during the last years has known a strong crisis – with 2 excellent cases of difficulties such as Ferré and Mariella Burani – is recovering. “We are worried not only about the 4,000 workers of the 2 fashion maisons, but also for the whole production chain, which is based on small and medium firms that do not have a strong reserve to support this situation and we fear they can become weaker”.
For this reason the Chairman agrees on releasing to the textile sector part of the 2010 governmental incentives. “It is the right moment – he explained – to show solidarity to this sector”.
