On September 15, 1982, at the end of their work day, the staff of Globe Photos in New York was almost out of the building when news of the death of Princess Grace of Monaco reached them.
To the man, they stepped back into the elevator and returned to the office.
Phones were already ringing.
Picture editors representing publications from all over the world needed material on the former movie queen and they knew tat the Globe files would yield what they sought.
Pulling photos from the files ran on into the night.
By morning most of the requests had been filled.
Within 24 hours, Globe Photo’s pictures high-lighting the life of Grace Kelly were being “put to bed” in magazines in the United States and many foreign countries.
