GROUP OF ANGELS – XII CENTURY FRESCO – CHURCH OF SAN PIETRO AL MONTE, CIVATE
The angels hovering in flight with their great wings are dressed in mannered apparel; this is witnessed by the loose dalmaticas decorated with clubs whose wide sleeves allow you to see the tight-fitting tunic sleeves, and the mantels draped in the pallium fashion which hark back to the fashions of previous centuries. However, the colours of the garments and the hair styles with a band tied to the nape of the neck and in the shape of the sleeves of the surcoat itself, rather short and flared, slightly folded back, are an indirect testament to XII century feminine costumes.
