When photojournalistic tecniques gained popularity with magazine editors, there began a market for a more realistic approach to glamour photography as well. They wanted pictures that avoided the artificiality of the gallery shot. Candid glamour photography was born and given a new name: cheesecake. Major magazines like ESQUIRE, ARGOSY and PLAYBOY published not single cheesecake photos but cheesecake layouts, features that spolighted an actress in a series of sexy shots.
