According to Forbes his wealth is estimated at 8.5 billion dollars, which makes him the fourth richest man in Italy and the 131^st richest man in the world. In 2005 he declared a taxable income of 45 million euros.

In 2009 he became ambassador of the Internet for Peace movement founded by monthly magazine Wired Italia. Its objective was to nominated Internet for the Nobel Peace prize of 2010.

In his interview for Playboy Italia n. 16 (June 2010), Giorgio Armani spoke concerning the dilemma between “essence” and “appearance” which characterizes today’s society:

         « (Appearance is important in our appearance-oriented society, however is essence still a virtue in these modern times?) Fundamentally I believe that appearance is short-lived, whereas essence is for life. »
