FELLINI – IN SEARCH OF FACES /3

cinema, actor, clowns

Pigafetta : is the cemetery custodian, a homunculus between 50-60 years of age, but could also be 40. I imagined him to be hunched over, limping.

Thick glasses, which partly hide or highlight a diverting squint (like frogs?  Could be.).

No French actor comes to mind, note even from cinema of the past, who could serve as a model.

Perhaps between the old clowns of the Medrano, or of the Cirque d’Hiver, you could find a type of square shouldered, robust (he has to handle caskets), and with a childish smile on his face.

Even his gestures, his way of speaking, express sweetness, an artist’s grace, that of a poet.

Among some photographs that I have held on to of French actors there is one of certain Sim: a sharp, malicious face, and therefore has nothing to do with the chatter I’ve made to this point.

However, I would like to see other photographs of Sim. Can he be tracked down?
