A Nez Percè cornhusk bag, dated at circa 1890.
These skillfully woven bags were very popular objects of exchange.
They were used primarily to store cama and wild turnip roots; however they also appear in the Blackfeet’s medicine bundles and they were sought after by the Crows to be used as containers for clothing and other handmade beadwork.
They were partly made of coloured wool.
