The 1968 festival was scheduled to run from the 10th to the 24th of May. The president of the jury, Monica Vitti, resigned following disputes, and her resignation was followed by that of other jurors. On the 18th, Louis Malle, a resigning member of the jury, François Truffaut, Claude Berri, Jean-Gabriel Albicocco, Claude Lelouch, Roman Polanski and Jean-Luc Godard entered into the Palais hall and requested that the screening be halted as a sign of solidarity with the workers and students who had gone on strike. The following day the festival was halted and no awards were presented. The jury of the 2012 festival was presided over by Nanni Moretti, an Italian director.
