AN EVANGELIST – 12^TH CENTURY MINIATURE – BIBLIOTECA MARCIANA, VENICE

The miniature portraying an Evangelist writing, mirrors, even though oscillating between the reality of dress and pictorial style, the taste of the 12^th Century.

The cerulean color of the tunic, again embellished by vertical bands, is taken from the true one.

The cloak is draped as a pallium, but is an initial example of the trends of clothing of two colors.
