AMBROSE HAVING FALLEN ASLEEP NEAR THE ALTAR IS MIRACOLOUSLY CONVEYED TO TOURS – SILVER BAS-RELIEF OF THE VUOLVINIO ALTAR – CIRCA 835 – BASILICA OF SAINT AMBROSE, MILAN
Saint Ambrose in bishop’s garb wears a planet with the sacred pallium, of which one may glimpse the corner which flows behind, and the dalmatica, of which one may notice its wide sleeve and tunic.
The other two ecclesiastics wear the first a dalmatica with the pallium and the tunic; the other the gown and the tunic.
