PONCHO NAVAJO

The Navajo give great value to weaving and say they have learned the technique from the Spider Woman.
The baby girls are taught with special rites for their future as weavers.
A legend says:
“When a baby child is born in a tribe, you have to find a spider web, pick it up and rub it on the hands and arms of the small.
In this way, as soon as she grows, she will be devoted to the weaving and her fingers and arms will never be tired of working on the loom”.
According to the traditions of origin, women were used to leave a hole in the center of their work, as it happens in the cobwebs.
