MAESTRO DEL BIGALLO – MIRACLE FOR THE DEMON POSSESSED MAN (PART OF THE ST. ZENOBI FIGURE, FROM 13th CENTURY) – MUSEO DELL’OPERA DEL DUOMO, FLORENCE
In its soft linearity, the clothing of the second half of the 13th century obtains simple results yet perfect elegance.
The long skirts are belted rather low, in a way to form a puff at the hips, the pure white veil edged in black and red is simply wrapped on the head, letting the strips fall to cover, almost like a wimple, the dress’s modest neckline.
The hooded cape with a lovely pin runs almost to the feet.
