ROMANTIC AND BOURGEOIS

The great epoch-making changes at the end of the 1700s-beginnings of the 1800s also profoundly influenced aesthetic and culture.

The French Revolution was the first to sanctify the modern political symbolism of colors, with its red, white and blue trininial, making them a distinctive sign of political and ideological support.

This was all part of a process which led to a brusque change from frivolous Rococo to the austere and severe tones of Neoclassicism.
